LfE 12: Weekend activities

29/11/2009

Hello everyone 🙂

It’s a Sunday. Four degrees celsius as I write, and cloudy. A bunch of us friends are going to the German market today on Princes Street. It’s ‘the place’ to be this weekend. It’s supposed to be prettily decorated and fun events happen there.

Last evening, two of us went to Asda in the foggy dark. We got lots of groceries. Hopefully it will last a month. We all eat well.

I have also been given a local host to hang out with. The international office arranges this thing for foreign students where when you apply you list out your interests and they try to pick a host for you with similar interests. My host is a teacher of Violin, Latin and Greek. She paints and she studied theology at the Uni when she was younger. She’s semi-retired now. I’ll be meeting her for coffee in the coming week.

The week gone by was on Neuroregeneration and clinical Neuroscience. It really opened out new possible research fields for me. Meanwhile, my project is still not settled. When you have ethical conscience issues about killing mice, it really limits the science you can do. But all is not lost. I’ve written to the psychiatry people and they may have some imaging work for me on Schiz!(Schizophrenia) These are the same people I’ll be applying to for my PhD in Schizophrenia. I’ve also been looking at a few in Germany.

And it’s also that time of the year when you have to start writing Statements of Purpose! Sigh! I’ll start on it soon.

I think that’s all for now.

Hope all of you are well and happy 🙂
