On the Beach of Isolation

Emptiness

The body is but a shell

Abandoned and pale

The heart is frozen and fractured

As it lies on the Beach of Isolation

Icy waves sucking the life out of it

Hypothermia

So cold that it hurts

The Sun peeps through

In fortunate moments

Attempting to revitalise

Through the frosty gloom of clouds

Grey and bleak

Whiffs of hope are carried

Intangibly in the chilled wind

Hope is cruel

It makes the heart yearn

Such longing that only a heart would know

Only to abandon once again

The heart cries with pain so pure

Here it lies

This mangled blood pump

Barely alive

Pumping without conviction

Without life

Discarded

Let it lie there

On the Beach of Isolation
