Including the habits of happy people, environmentalist experiments, and the good side of Indian men…
There are four main castes usually listed in the following order; Brahmins, the teachers/priests, Kshatriyas, the warriors and administrators, Vaishyas, the traders and the Shudras, the labourers. This system originally developed as method of division of labour and thus the analogy of the different parts of the body. In very little time though, even as early as the Later Vedic Era, the system became thoroughly corrupted. People began to lose the freedom to move between the castes based on one’s choice of profession. Caste became a matter of birth.
Love and relationships themselves take so much effort. They are so emotionally risky, divorce rates are climbing and extramarital affairs are so commonplace that people talk about them almost casually. So why do people get excited about falling in love? Hamburgers grow where the forests once stood,
Somehow I get the feeling that we’ve all been fooled.
29/12/2009 Hello 🙂 I have been in Slough, a town near London, for around two weeks now. It has been restful to spend time with family, watch movies, go shopping etc. The Christmas and Boxing days were mainly an opportunity to shop. I hardly felt Christmassy, and that is sad because I like the spirit … [Read more…]
Arranged marriage is an old concept. It existed long before people accepted love (that occurred before marriage) as a valid reason to marry. The process through which this changed is reflected very well in the movie ‘Fiddler on the Roof’. It has taken several generations for different families to accept love over tradition. And a … [Read more…]
Yesterday I was in Bremen for my first Entrepreneurship workshop. I had heard of them ever since my undergrad but I was never that interested in it back then. I thought, I was going to be an academic, not a businesswoman. Then I started reading Rich Dad Poor Dad. I haven’t finished it but it … [Read more…]
